RHS Garden Clean-up on May 17

The spring clean up is the biggest gardening effort of the year.  We would love any amount of time that you can spare!   You are welcome to bring your children but please be aware that no childcare is available.  However, there are many earthworms and mud to play with!
When: May 17th from 2:30-4:30 pm
What to bring: Gardening tools, trailer for mulch, water, wheelbarrows, trash bags and weeding tools. Wheelbarrows, rakes, and weeding tools are very helpful.

On May 17th we will be weeding, cleaning, trimming and mulching the gardens.  We understand that May is a busy time for many families and it is difficult to consider one more volunteer effort towards the end of the year. However, please keep in mind that any amount of help either the day of the gardening days, prior, or after really does help.  St. Paul public schools DO NOT up keep the gardens.  If we don’t take care of them than giant weeds (some as big as pre-k students) take over the front of the school!  No, we are not joking. I am sending all the guilt I possible can as it is not fun to weed and mulch the garden with just two to three people.

Also if you have a trailer to pick-up and deliver mulch to the school we are in desperate need for one.  The work goes by more quickly with two people delivering mulch.  Right now we have one very helpful parent that has helped over the  years. This is her son’s last year at RHs so we need a few more people to learn the ropes.  The mulch is paid by the school.

We will start weeding around 2:30 those delivering mulch can start delivery around 3:00

Please R.S.V.P to weislow@mac.com so we can know how many people to expect and to also have a way to notify you if gardening is canceled due to weather.  Tentative rain out day will be May 31st which is the week after memorial weekend.

If you would like to help but cannot come to the scheduled times please see Mrs. Hubbard in the library to get a work slip.  Simply come get a work slip, work with a friend, a small group or work by yourself and work when every you have time. The work slip lets us keep track of the work completed and what needs to be finished. Thank you again, for any amount of time you can provide.
