Think Spring! Garden Cleanup

No, really. Underneath that snow are a lot of gardens that need tending.

The spring clean up is the biggest gardening effort of the year, led by the RHS Garden Crew. The St. Paul Public Schools do not keep up the gardens; if we don’t take care of them, giant weeds (some as big as pre-k students) take over the front of the school!

The Garden Crew would love any amount of time that you can spare.  You are welcome to bring your children, but please be aware that no childcare is available.  However, there are many earthworms and mud to play with!

Here’s how you can help:

Garden Day: April 27 (tentative)

Dividing daylilies to be sold during the Rummage Sale (the same day). Proceeds from the sale of plants will be used to fund the upkeep of the RHS gardens. If you are interested, please email Jessica Weislow and she’ll keep you informed about whether that will actually be possible that day.

Garden Day: May 18

Weeding, cleaning, trimming and mulching the gardens. Weeding begins at 9 a.m. and mulch delivery will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Please bring your own gardening tools, trailer for mulch if you have one, water, coffee, wheelbarrows, trash bags. Juice and a snack for kids will be provided.

Please let Jessica Weislow know if you are coming for planning purposes (and so she can let you know of cancellations or changes).
