Yoga Calm Workshop for Parents

Yoga Calm At Randolph Heights-2012 Pages

Green and Healthy Kids is offering a parent workshop on Yoga Calm, a program offered in schools and to families to help children improve self-regulation, focus, fitness, and imagination. The workshop will be held on Thursday, February 28 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the library.

Yoga Calm tools and processes are used in thousands of schools and homes across the US. Come join us for an evening to learn some breathing exercises, simple yoga poses and social and emotional skill development activities to use in the home and at school.

Yoga Calm is based on five wellness principles—Stillness, Listening, Strength, Grounding, and Community. Participants learn how breathing exercises, simple yoga poses, and social-emotional skill development activities can help students reduce stress, develop self control and increase emotional awareness. Research studies conclude that yoga improves a child’s mental and emotional health, concentration, academic achievement, discipline, ability to relax and self-esteem. Researchers have also found improvement in hyperactivity, impulsiveness and behavior on oppositional and AD/HD rating scales.

This event is free and for all RHS parents. Free child care is available. To RSVP for childcare, or for more information, contact Rebecca Andestic at or 651-278-4513.
